EARIOS is a podcasting media network built by the most powerful and engaging women in entertainment. Our taste is INTELLIGENT, OFF-KILTER, and INCLUSIVE. Gabbing about hair and makeup, fine! But we welcome literary salons, true crime, culture vultures, serialized fiction, philosophical discussions, and perhaps even a car show, if we can find a lady who wants to host one.

WHAT INSPIRED THE MEANING OF EARIOS?
There's a podcast out there for everyone, but nearly all of the networks that host, develop, and promote our favorite shows are run by men. We didn’t want to let this beautiful medium that will shape culture for generations to come go the way of literally everything else, and become a boys club.
Only 22% of podcasts are hosted by women, and an additional 11% are co-hosted by women. Women make up 44% of podcast listeners but are outpacing male listeners. Only 22% of podcasts are hosted by women and additional 11% are co-hosted by women.
These statistics felt personal and real when Amanda and Maria, who have been podcasting since it was a thing, pitched their show idea to several networks. They quickly realized that the gatekeepers were mostly men, who weren’t connecting with the material as a woman might, and an idea formed. They called their friend and frequent collaborator Priyanka, and with our collective entertainment industry knowledge and business savvy, we decided to create a woman-led network.
HOW DID YOU START EARIOS?
Earios became more than an idea once we successfully launched and funded a Kickstarter campaign in the summer of 2018.
We are eternally grateful for our backers getting us off the ground and we’ve done everything we can to stretch every cent - we were aiming for six, and have gotten 12 shows on board. We couldn’t have done it without the friends and people who supported us from the very beginning!
WHAT DOES “EARIOS” MEAN?
Earios is meant to evoke ‘curio’ - because we like to imagine our slate of shows as a cabinet of curiosities. Something for everyone! Then we slapped the Ear on there to make it more “podcasty.” Listen, we had a lot of options for names but for some reason we just gravitated toward Earios, and used it as a placeholder until one day we realized it was too late to turn back. But we love it!
